The Invisalign advantage
There are many solid advantages to using Invisalign rather than conventional braces.
- Clear aligners are almost invisible
- Fewer doctor visits
- Eat whatever you want since aligners are removable
- Easy to keep your teeth clean
- Aligners are removable when needed
- Less mouth irritation – no wires
How Invisalign works
Unlike ordinary metal braces that use brackets Invisalign® uses aligners. These ultra-thin, high-grade virtually invisible clear plastic trays fit comfortably over your teeth. These smooth aligners are created to move your teeth gradually into their desired position by changing your aligners every two weeks at home.
Dr. Camacho will take impressions and molds of your teeth and show you a virtual representation of exactly how your teeth will move during treatment. Then he will send instructions to the lab for the creation of your first set of prescription aligners.
You’ll receive a new set of prescription aligners approximately every two weeks. With each new aligner, you’ll see progress until your teeth are eventually straight. Treatment time usually takes about a year for adults and one-and-a-half to two years for teenagers. Unlike with ordinary braces, taking care of your aligners is easy. You simply take them out of your mouth when you want to eat or brush and floss your teeth!
Conditions Invisalign can treat
The Invisalign® System is an alternative to conventional braces. It is for people with full adult dentition and complete jaw growth, which means many teenagers can benefit from Invisalign®.
Invisalign can treat the following conditions:
Crossbite—Some of your top teeth go under the bottom teeth
Overbite—Your upper teeth bite over the lower teeth
Underbite—Your lower teeth are protruding past the upper teeth
Overly crowded teeth
Widely spaced teeth, gaps
Orthopulse: Aligning your teeth as much as 80 percent faster with the power of light
Dr. Camacho recommends the FDA-approved OrthoPulse® Light Accelerated Orthodontics system to help speed the alignment of your teeth. The OrthoPulse is a mouthguard-like device that moves your teeth into position using low-level light energy.
Just ten minutes of treatment at home a day can speed tooth straightening by as much as 80 percent. Hundreds of case studies have proven that aligner treatment can be accelerated by about 30 percent to more than 80 percent, depending on the case.
“After using the OrthoPulse®, I was able to complete my Invisalign® treatment in 12 weeks instead of 12 months. Using the OrthoPulse® was an easy addition to my daily schedule and I am thrilled that I was able to effectively reduce my treatment time.” — M.D.
Easing aligner discomfort
In addition, the discomfort sometimes felt when changing aligners can be eased by the OrthoPulse device. The light energy from OrthoPulse acts to make the process of tooth movement easier on the teeth and surrounding bone.
How it Works
Your body runs on energy generated within tiny, living power-plants within the cells called mitochondria. Like solar panels collecting the energy of photons, the mitochondria absorb the light and then use it to help the body heal, reduce inflammation and pain. The OrthoPulse device harnesses this energy to help remodel the bone around the tooth roots during the process of teeth straightening. This facilitates tooth movement and accelerates the alignment of your teeth into their correct position.
