A lot of patients that come into our office for the first time have had previously poor experiences, and because of that, they come into the office where they’re fearful, they’re anxious there. All these negative thoughts and emotions are going through their minds, and my job is to make them feel comfortable. We’re here to help, hopefully provide a more positive experience than they’ve had previously in the past. Before we do any treatment, I always like to make sure my patients feel comfortable with me as their doctor. I like to get to know them, start having a conversation and making them feel like they’re at home. So with that in mind, I always tell the patient, I’m like, at any time, at any moment, that if you’re feeling anything uncomfortable, all we have to do is just communicate that with me. Either raise your hand, we will stop and pause right away, and then just make sure that you’re comfortable.
Again. I think walking into our office, we have a lot of aromatherapy. You’re immediately relaxed. We have a staff that’s amazing. Everybody is very friendly, very warm, very welcoming. Just making sure that your overall experience is positive. There’s sometimes a connection between how a patient feels internally and how they’re expressing that out into the world. Sometimes the patients that’s super anxious on the outside is because they’ve neglected their teeth for so long, and it’s more like the unknown. They think that they have this huge thing to tackle and accept that when they come to our office, it may be a huge thing to tackle, but at least we have them by their side to help them through the process.
